What is PHA or Gluconolactone?

Gluconolactone is a naturally occurring substance found in various foods as a result of the oxidation of glucose. Gluconolactone is a polyhydroxy acid (PHA) derived from gluconic acid. It has a large molecular structure that allows it to penetrate the skin more slowly and gently. Its benefits include gentle exfoliation, hydration, antioxidant properties and skin barrier strengthening.

How to use PHA in a skincare routine?

We recommend using our PHAbulous Chemical Exfoliant, enriched with 7% PHA (Gluconolactone) and Macadamia Seed Oil to brighten your complexion, exfoliate, hydrate and strengthen your skin barrier. Always use as the second step of your routine after cleansing. Gently shake PHAbulous Chemical Exfoliant 4 or 5 times before use. Apply a small amount to your face, avoiding sensitive areas, and massage gently. After PHAbulous is absorbed, apply your moisturizer of choice.

Recommendations when using PHAbulous

We do not recommend mixing in the same skincare routine PHAbulous Chemical Exfoliant with Timeless Skin, Age Rewind, C-bomb or Shine Bright.

Our chemical exfoliant contains PHA (gluconolactone), in order to avoid over exfoliation and skin irritation, we recommend avoiding the simultaneous use of retinol, vitamin C, vitamin A, or other acids.

For morning routines make sure to use sun protection to seal and protect.
